This is the last post that I will put on Flights of Grace. I’ve learned so much since April of 2014 when I started this blog (see here). I am so thankful! I am excited for what God has ahead!
The butterfly’s wings are bright and strong.
The butterfly is used to the winds that beat hard and long.
Yet, the brightness comes from her light within.
Yes, the God of light is the butterfly’s closest friend.
The butterfly’s heart is ready to fight.
Indeed, the brightness of her wings shimmers even in the night.
The butterfly sometimes faces wet skies and rain pounding down.
Yes, sometimes the butterfly faces hardship coming all around.
Better yet, the butterfly faces many days of flowers, hope, and sun.
Indeed, the butterfly usually has lots of joy and fun.
The butterfly seems to laugh as her wings reflect the light.
And, oh, how she desires to touch souls with her flight.
The best part of all is that the butterfly’s flight is a symbol of God’s grace…
The flight points to the certainty of God’s love, His favor, and Jesus
taking our place.
Nature surrounds my beating heart, and it stills, stops, waits.
I am filled with wonder with this God who is so great!
I like how the beauty from God’s hand arrests my anxious soul.
It calls me to ponder His love and to rest from my toil.
How He loves us! Oh how He loves us! The nature around us is like a heavenly kiss.
My soul hopes that heaven will be a tad like this.
In fact, I know it will be better!
For isn’t heaven where God will be with us, face to face?
Where we won’t hurt, cry, or have heartaches?
Isn’t this world a part of His beauty, though? Didn’t He make a mark on this earth, like an artist’s signature too?
Isn’t this world, a gift for me and for you?
Just like the gift of heaven.
I know that God delights in me when I see the world around me.
I pray that He will open my eyes to more fully see.
The flowers. The bees. The trees and the sun.
I want to see and to thank Him for the work that He has done.
Oh how great is the God I know!
For now, I wait. I hope. I sow.
Yes, such tastes of heaven are here now with me.
Yet, I cannot wait until that day where I arrive and I see Jesus in all His glory.
“…in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
(1 Thess. 5:18, NASB)
Thank you, God, that you don’t leave me. Thank you, Father, that you are with me on the nights that I cannot sleep. Thank you that you are with my in my pain. Thank you for giving me real strength me when my body is weak. I am thankful that if I am complaining or sick or hyper or if I mess up or if I am grumpy or frustrated, it doesn’t diminish my value in your eyes. Thank you for loving me still. Thank you for your grace, Father! Thank you for my family! Thank you for all of my friends too. Thank you for always sending me lovely moths and butterflies to enjoy. Thank you that you enable me to do my school work. Thank you for the pretty flowers. Thank you that you turn everything (even the very hard stuff) into something good. I love you, God!
What are you thankful for today?
P.S. Can you find the Question Mark Butterfly(remember that one… 🙂 )? What about the praying mantis? Can you see the camouflage butterfly in the pine straw? Can you find the ant on the water-soaked leaf? Click on the photos to see the details! Enjoy!

Thank you, God, that your love is like the ocean:
Your love is constant, like wave after wave that are steady and sure. Your love never ends.
Sometimes it’s reckless, knocking me down like a tidal wave. Sometimes it is calmer, wooing me peacefully.
Your love heals my wounds, especially the hurts in my heart, just like the salty ocean water heals skin wounds.
Your love is deep like the deepest parts of the ocean.
Your love is endless like looking out over the horizon, as far as I can see.
Your love is fresh and new, never stale. It’s like the constant change of fresh waves with the tide.
Your love is fierce, refreshing, and full, like the ocean too.
Your love brings joy like dolphins jumping over the waves.
Your love restores like the pink and orange sunrise dawns over the horizon with a new day.
Your love doesn’t give up, just like the constant churning of the tides and the making of the sands. It doesn’t fail or ever stop.
Your love is beautiful like the pristine beaches and the emerald green waters.
Your love brings praise, it invokes courage, and it ignites a response like jumping into the surf and riding the waves.
Your love holds my hand and goes with me like the undertow tickles and pulls my feet forward.
Your love is sweet yet salty, perfect to my taste. Sometimes it is overpowering or disciplines me like a mouth full of salt water.
Your love is pure like the purity of the ocean. It echoes the simplicity of the water and is profound like the ocean too.
Your love is the best, God!! Thank you for sending me Jesus because you love me so much! And thank you, God, for this analogy, like a love letter straight to my soul.
Psalm 148:7-13, NIV
Praise the Lord from the earth,
you great sea creatures and all ocean depths,
lightning and hail, snow and clouds,
stormy winds that do his bidding,
you mountains and all hills,
fruit trees and all cedars,
wild animals and all cattle,
small creatures and flying birds,
kings of the earth and all nations,
you princes and all rulers on earth,
young men and women,
old men and children.
Let them praise the name of the Lord,
for his name alone is exalted;
